transcript of lady with video that uses robot arm to do paint by numbers painting

She uses python to program the robot and it keeps going back to the colors and diping in the apropriate colors and washing the brush in between colors.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi my name is Joanne hasty and I'm an
artist based in Vancouver BC Canada and
for the past little while I have been
teaching myself Python code in order to
program a robotic arm to paint now any
time I tell people about this project
the first thing they ask is do you have
any movies of it working now I haven't
until this video so I thought for my
very first video I would do one of my
favorite projects from when I was a
little girl five or six was
paint-by-numbers so let's see if I can
get this robotic arm to do a
paint-by-numbers so I picked up one of
these dollar-fifty paint-by-numbers this
one is an aquatic scene it comes with
seven colors and a paintbrush but I
noticed immediately that the expectation
is that you're going to mix the colors
which they haven't given you enough
paint so I'm actually going to be using
my own paint for this but however so you
can see the picture a little bit better
here it is we've got a deep-sea diver he
is standing on the leg of a squid and
then there's a happy little shark in the
corner and then a submarine so we'll see
if we can paint this now some of the
steps I took to start this project was I
photographed this and I brought it into
Photoshop which you can see behind me so
it's the same photo right here I colored
it in and that's how I used my
algorithms to figure out where to put
what colors where and then turn that
into code that the robot can then read
so without further ado let's watch see
if the robot can can paint this

all right so what do you think this was
the outcome as you can see I really like
that green squid back there it's filled
in some yellow and red on to the scuba
diver has a very happy yellow shark
there and a bright red submarine so it
blocked out the colors pretty well
clean the brush between the strokes I
look forward to your comments below and
if you liked this project you can see
all of the paintings that I've done with
this robotic arm on at painting
variables on my Instagram feed so the
link is also below and you can see all
of my artwork at Joanne st.com thanks
for watching
